scavenger hunt #1

Objective

 Introduce young children to the orchard with simple visual and sensory-based exploration. 

Materials Needed

Crayons, pencils, or colored pencils. Sheets of paper, a clipboard.

Directions

Walk around the orchard with a caregiver.

Find each items listed.

Color it or check it off the list, as you go.

Things to Find

  • A red apple (on tree or ground)
  • A buzzing bee or insect
  • A purple flower (like Wild Bergamot)
  • The log cabin
  • A berry bush (blackberry or raspberry)
  • A bird or squirrel
  • A tall fuzzy plant (Joe Pye Weed)
  • Another kid playing nearby

Objective

  Encourage ecological curiosity and deeper observation skills in the orchard. 

Materials Needed

  Pencil  or pen. Magnifying glass or cell phone camera (optional).

Directions

 Visit each area of the orchard: apple trees, berry patch, and pollinator bed.

Complete each task and record your answers.

Your Mission
